Based in London, Elspeth is a professional accompanist, chamber musician and private tutor. She works regularly with other young professionals from leading national ensembles, including the Philharmonia, the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Southbank Sinfonia Glyndebourne and the Vardanyan Quartet. As well as performing instrumental and vocal recitals, Elspeth works regularly with choirs and has a private teaching practice. Elspeth grew up near Edinburgh where she was a pupil at St Mary's Music School, and went on to read for BA in Music at the University of Oxford, while studying piano with Professor Raymond Fischer. She moved to London to study as a postgraduate at the Royal Academy of Music, where she specialised in piano accompaniment with teachers Andrew West and Colin Stone. While at the Academy, Elspeth received the prestigious Vivian Langrish Award for Accompaniment, as well as the Evelyn German Prize, Frederick Jackson Memorial Prize, the J E Reckitt Award and a Mortimer Development Award. She was supported during her studies by the Oldhurst Charitable Trust. Elspeth has participated in masterclasses with Michael Dussek, Clifford Benson Julius Drake, Tamsin Little and Robin Bowman. She has performed in Spain and Switzerland, and regularly returns to Scotland to perform there, as well as giving concerts in and around London. Recent projects have included recording a piece for Draft Works at the Royal Ballet, and several performances of choral works by Vaughan Williams to mark the 50th year since his death in 1958.
