It's been a while since this page has been updated, but it's not for lack of news! I've had an interesting variety of work recently including three recording projects, several choral works by Vaughan Williams and some unconventional flute music.

The most exciting recording session was at Abbey Road studios, founded by Elgar and made famous by many, aside from the Beatles. We were in Studio Two which claims to be the most famous studio in the world. Amazingly, they still use microphones from the 1950's. As part of the newly-formed Orsino Ensemble, we were working with composer Ella Spira to record her piece the Dream being used in performances of Draft Works at the Royal Ballet in December. Visit Ella's website to hear the piece.

The other recording projects were playing for 2 CDs to accompany Novello's recent publication The National Songbook and a new album with the Croydon Male Voice Choir.

Live performances included two flute and piano recitals with Claire Overbury, one of which was in aid of Thames Valley Hospice. Claire and I very much enjoyed performing a sonata by the Belgian composer Joseph Jongen, a contemporary of Debussy. We had been working on it for a fair length of time and were glad that the audience seemed to be as intrigued by it as we had been.

My main 'piece of the month' is Poulenc's Sextuor for piano and wind quintet which will have its first airing on Dec 18th with the Orsino Ensemble (see concert page for details). Hope to see you there!
